Portable technology in mental healthcare

Abstract
This article explores the emerging role of mobile and wearable technology in mental healthcare. It discusses how wearables can collect physiological and behavioural data in a relatively non-invasive way, creating new possibilities for monitoring, prevention, and support in daily life. At the same time, the article highlights that their use in mental healthcare remains largely unexplored and comes with important challenges. Special attention is given to the opportunities, limitations, and potential role of clinical psychologists, concluding with a forward-looking view on how wearable technology may influence clinical practice in the near future.
